Why this? Why now?
Church of the Saviour is a place where all people gather to praise God and to live our faith in bringing the kingdom of God on earth. That is not just an ideal; it is our calling and our identity. God has called us together in a diverse setting to be a community that honors and celebrates one another in all our diversity, seeking together to make disciples of Jesus Christ and to transform the world.
We live in a fallen world where difference is often feared and repressed. We acknowledge a complicated past and our present complicity in a system that too often devalues the experiences and revelations of Black and Brown people. We commit ourselves to the work of anti-racism in our church, in our community, and in our world because we must, as people who heed the biblical mandate to do justice, love kindness, and walk humbly with our God, a God whose very Trinitarian nature is diverse and who created a world filled with beautiful diversity for us to celebrate and share.
