Church of the Saviour choirs will welcome Dr. Ward Jamison and Vicki Jamison for a two-day choral workshop on Friday, October 25 from 7 pm - 9:30 pm and Saturday, October 26 from 3 pm - 5:30 pm. In addition, individual voice lessons will be offered to choir members Saturday morning and early afternoon. All members of the choirs are encouraged to attend, but all who might have an interest in choral music and have considered singing with the church ensembles are welcome to join the workshop. Ward Jamison is Professor Emeritus of Music at Allegheny College, where for 31 years he was the Director of Choral Activities, conducting four choirs and teaching courses in music theory and listening. In retirement he continues to accompany vocal recitals, chamber music, and choral ensembles.
Before moving to Pennsylvania, Vicki Jamison, lyric coloratura soprano, was an active performer with the Milwaukee Opera Company and Florentine Opera Company in Wisconsin, singing the roles of Susanna in Le Nozze di Figaro and Frasquita in Carmen as well as a number of comprimario roles. She performed the title role in Princess Ida with the Connecticut Stage, Inc., was a soloist with the Waterbury Symphony and Oratorio Society in Mozart's C Minor Mass, and sang the soprano solo in the Vaughan Williams Dona nobis pacem with the Erie Philharmonic.
